Bio

Having been Jeffery's best friend since they were in elementary school, Neil Gavins is as loyal a companion as anyone. Armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows he found lying around during a recon mission, Neil is prepared to dish out a world of hurt on his enemies.

Gameplay Details

Special Moves

  • D, F + L- Quick Arrow (fires a normal arrow forward; meter burn fires three arrows quickly and in succession; in air ok; input F, D to fire it up-forward; input B, F to fire it straight up so it can come back down and land in front of him)
  • D, F + M- Electric Arrow (fires an electrified arrow forward; stuns foe on hit; in air ok; input F, D to fire it up-forward; input B, F to fire it straight up so it can come back down and land in front of him)
  • D, F + H- Explosive Arrow (fires a flaming arrow forward; knocks foe into the air on hit; meter burn knocks foe towards him; in air ok; input F, D to fire it up-forward; input B, F to fire it straight up so it can come back down and land in front of him)
  • D, B + L- Poison Arrow (fires a poisoned arrow forward; on hit, foe slowly loses health overtime for four seconds; meter burn on hit has foe lose health at a slightly quicker pace and lasts six seconds; in air ok; input B, D to fire it up-forward; input F, B to fire it straight up so it can come back down and land in front of him)
  • D, B + M- Ice Arrow (fires an icy arrow forward; on hit, foe is frozen for about two seconds; meter burn has foe frozen for slightly longer; in air ok; input B, D to fire it up-forward; input F, B to fire it straight up so it can come back down and land in front of him)
  • D, B + H- Piercing Arrow (fires a super fast arrow forward'; crumples grounded foe and/or wall bounces aerial foe on hit; in air ok; input B, D to fire it up-forward; input F, B to fire it straight up so it can come back down and land in front of him, in which case it ground bounces aerial foes on hit)

Character Trait

  • S-Acrobatic Style (hops forward while flipping continuously; press B at the same time for a backwards flippy jump; press D at the same time for a forward roll; can fire each of his arrows during any of these actions)

Super Move

  • MB + FS- William Tell Junior (swings his bow leftwards after putting it in his left hand; on hit, he somersaults back a few times so he can be in a position to run towards foe while firing a few arrows at them; when close to them, he performs a sliding kick that knocks foe up and behind them before he fires a final explosive arrow that knocks foe back some more)

Misc

  • Voice Actor: Scott Porter
  • Intro Animation: Neil rolls forward after firing an arrow from his bow forward before hopping forward, landing, and somehow catching the arrow, then puts it in his quiver as he says "You better be ready."
  • Round Win Animation: Twirls his bow with his fingers as he says "Hurts, don't it?" or "My aim is always nice."
  • Match Win Animation: Gets out an apple, tosses it above him, then gets out and arrow and fires it at the apple. As it descends, he catches the arrow and chuckles a bit.

Arcade ending

"It has been only a week and a half since the fall of Jiles Gorge. In that short amount of time, Neil soon witnessed a number of small children handling bows and arrows. At first, he was a bit confused, but he soon learned that his victory over Jiles had inspired numerous youths to be just like him. In response, Neil had opened an archery training club, dedicated to helping his biggest admirers in handling a bow and arrow in a way only he can. With this, he will be remembered as the architect of a new generation of arrow-slinging heroes."
I know it's not so easy making an archer-type characters moveset entirely original, but I did my best. Neil's special moves consist entirely of arrows, whose inputs can be adjusted accordingly to deal with certain characters from afar, making him mainly a zoning character, but that's not to say he doesn't have decent close combat skills.

For his ending, I made him be a role model for young children everywhere, meaning they will be willing to learn how to handle a bow and arrow like him. So Neil does the most logical thing: open up a learning center so he can teach kids how to sling an arrow like him. Now that's philanthropy! Next up is his cousin Debbie, the tomboyish soccer gal.
